Born in Toronto, Canada. Matthew Wellman is currently a 3D animation student at the Ubisoft training facility located in Canada’s gaming capital of Montreal. At this time, he is being shown the ropes of every artistic facet involved in video game creation from conceptualization, procedures and work flow, content integration, modeling, texturing, rigging, animation and everything in between, including a full 4 months production on valve’s half life 2 game engine with a mid size team of 80, to create a total conversion mod. All this is being taught to him by leading industry professionals who have worked on high profile titles not only from Ubisoft, but with experience at Eidos, A2M, Blizzard, ILM, Weta as well as Disney.
His previous training involved multiple years of traditional drawing and animation in Algonquin college’s animation program, located in Ottawa, Ontario. Before commencing his professional studies, He took it upon himself to try and learn as much as possible through on-line communities and many books bought over the years. These sources have not only been an inspiration to him but they have also taught him much and continue to do so still to this day.
Matthew’s personal dream is to play a pivotal role in the creative process involved in creating stunning visual sequences. To invoke powerful sensations within those both young and old, and to captivate them with visual storytelling techniques. Another is to share the knowledge that he feels privileged to have gained from others, with people who share the same passions. In the drive to continue pursuing that goal and with the road clearly paved, He finds himself here today.
This site is used as an environment where he can share with others his works, articles and theories as well as his progression in the arts and to perhaps provide to those who are interested in this path, a glimpse of what could be.
Good luck in your pursuits
